Faculty of Medicine Green Committee

The Faculty of Medicine Green Committee has been working since the summer of 2008 to develop a list of priorities through which we will provide leadership to the Faculty with respect to development and implementation of environmentally-sound practices. Our immediate priorities currently include (but are not limited to):

• Development of a presentation on Faculty and University sustainability practices and available resources for all orientation sessions offered by the Faculty;
• Creation of a secure bicycle parking area(s) for on-campus faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate and 1st/2nd year medical students;
• Development of mechanisms to reduce waste and energy use, and to quantify current Faculty environmental practices so that improvements over time can be tracked;
• Creation and maintenance of a website that provides information to members of the Faculty regarding environmental ‘best practices’ and resources;
• Writing a "Green Tip" for each issue of MedEmail, concrete and useful suggestions on how to reduce the environmental impact of our day to day activities .
