Equity and Professionalism
Professionalism page
David McKnight
Associate Dean, Equity & Professionalism
Welcome! In these pages we hope to provide information and resources of use to students, residents, staff, and faculty.
We have all become accustomed to a world of fast-paced change. As things change so quickly — and often we are the agents of that change — it is important that we have strong core values. We need to know those values and ensure that they inform our actions.
In the Faculty of Medicine, we strive to build on our high standards of ethics and professionalism. We know that meeting the expectations of our patients and of society for ethical and professional care is as important to what we do as our efforts in research and education.
We also recognize the strength to be found in diversity. We seek to assure equitable treatment to all without regard to gender, ethnicity, physical disability, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status.
The position of Associate Dean, Equity & Professionalism was created in 2007 as the first such decanal level post in Canada to address these issues throughout the Faculty. We are pleased to include Ethics on these pages as an essential component of all that we do.
We hope that you find these pages useful and welcome your feedback. (MedEP.Admin@utoronto.ca)
