Molecule marks immune function; could improve HIV treatment monitoring, University of Toronto research finds

Researchers at the University of Toronto led by Prof. Tania Watts (Dept. of Immunology) have identified a molecule in white blood cells that could be used to track the effectiveness of HIV treatment. The work also showed the molecule plays an important role in limiting HIV infection, and that its loss can be reversed by a drug currently under clinical investigation.
